Speakeasy is a hold-to-talk dictation app for Windows and macOS. This notice explains the hosted product and the separate open-source, bring-your-own-key edition.

Hosted processing consent

Hosted processing starts only after you accept the current hosted processing consent. You can withdraw it in Settings. Withdrawal applies to the account immediately across devices: new processing is rejected, unfinished capture is discarded, and returned content is not pasted or charged. You must explicitly accept the current consent again before processing resumes.

Account and operational data

We keep the data needed to operate the account: email and authentication records, enrolled device identifiers, setup and consent events, plan and subscription state, metered usage, operation status, support requests, app/platform versions, permission state, and privacy-safe error codes. Operational records do not include audio, transcripts, generated text, clipboard contents, or window titles.

Support and AI-output reports

Support diagnostics use a strict content-free allowlist. Dictated or generated content is excluded unless you separately choose to attach it and accept the warning shown in the app. A support receipt contains a ticket ID, server timestamp, and status; it is not a response-time promise.

Retention and deletion

Account deletion is permanent, ends the subscription, revokes sessions, and removes account, authentication, device, consent, usage, support, audio, transcript, and generated-content data. It does not change Windows microphone permission or clipboard history. Harmless local preferences such as theme and hotkey choice may remain for a future account.

A narrow payment and tax ledger is retained for ten years after the end of the calendar year in which the transaction occurred. It contains only provider transaction references, timestamps, currency, amounts, tax amounts and jurisdiction, product/plan, invoice or receipt references, refund timestamps, and dispute status. It excludes email, name, authentication data, device IDs, consent events, support bodies, audio, transcripts, and generated text.
